Fair in Backi Petrovac

In August there was a fair of Slovak customs in Backi Petrovac. There is lot of Slovak people in this part of Serbia.
The lady from the "Etno art" gallery who "sells" my dolls was invited and she asked me to come with her.We were representing our town.Few of her friends came too, to help us to set our table.
It was first time for me to attend something like this, and I was really excited.
Here is how our table looked like.

They organized beauty contest. All the girls were in their national costumes and they looked unusual for me.
Their costumes are so shiny, lot of silver and gold sequins and different color embroidery. They wear to ten underskirts (one of them allowed me to look under her skirt) with lot of starch on them so they look like plastic.

I looked under her skirt.

I want to be a beauty too....

There was lot of crotchet things and embroidery on other tables, but this one was interesting. These are carved eggs, real eggs.

Under one of the tents some fisher mans were preparing fish soup,(delicious). And of course there were musicians (so I tried to ply the violin).

One of interesting tables.

I haven't sell any dolls (lot of people were looking and asking questions about them) but I had great time.

portrait

Few months ago I made this portrait for my best friend.

I used PS to transform her photo, and here is how it turns out when I sew it.

Lotus challenge

Winners for the Lotus Challenge were announced few days ago on Doll street.
I'm sure that it was really hard to decide about the winners, cause all dolls were great.
My doll won the price for the best use of color.
Patti Medaris Culea was the sponsor of this challenge.
She offered great prices (books and fabrics etc.) for the winners and Molly (owner of the DS) offered 100$ in cash.
My prize is Patti's book (signed) and fabric selection.(75$ worth)
Patti was so kind and contacted me asking which one of her books I want.I already have her second book-"Creative Cloth Doll Faces",(thanks to Diane Evdokimoff who have sent me this book about a year ago),and thought that it would be good to have her first book "Creative Cloth Doll Making".
All Patti's books are great, but I think that this first one is a base for all other books.(I will see am I right about that when I receive it).
When Jurate was here, she have looked at all my dolls and finally she said that most attractive for her is doll made from Patti's book.Well now this doll lives in Lithuania.

I have ADSL connection

Great news, for me,few days ago I've got ADSL connection.
So guess what I was doing since that day?!
I was so amazed how pages loads fast ,I even watched few video tutorials.
My previous connection was about 35-40 Kbp and now is 500Kbp it is 10 times faster.
I feel sorry for my self for spending so much time infront of the computer waiting for page or picture to load, and when I think of all things that I wanted to see and wasn't able.
Well ,this is behind me,and now I feel happy.
Internet - here I come!

New joke

I have a friend who sends me jokes all the time,so here is another one.....well few of them.

The following statements are from a book called "Disorder in the American Courts", and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place
ATTORNEY: Are you sexually active?
WITNESS: No, I just lie there ___________________________________________________________________
ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?
WITNESS: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.

ATTORNEY: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And in what ways does it affect your memory?
WITNESS: I forget.
ATTORNEY: You forget? Can you give us an example of something you forgot?
ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning?
WITNESS: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?"
ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you?
WITNESS: My name is Susan!

ATTORNEY: Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in voodoo?
WITNESS: We both do.
ATTORNEY: Voodoo?
WITNESS: We do.
ATTORNEY: You do?
WITNESS: Yes, voodoo.

ATTORNEY: Now doctor isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?

ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the twenty-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: Uh, he's twenty.

ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken?
WITNESS: Are you shitt'in me?

ATTORNEY: So the date of conception of the baby was August 8th?
WITNESS: Yes
ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time?
WITNESS: Uh.... I was gett'in laid!

ATTORNEY: She had three children, right?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
WITNESS: None.

ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?
WITNESS: Are you shitt'in me? Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new attorney?

ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
WITNESS: By death.
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
WITNESS: Now whose death do you suppose terminated it?

ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard.
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?
WITNESS: Guess.

ATTORNEY: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a
deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?
WITNESS: No, this is how I dress when I go to work.

ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?
WITNESS: All my autopsies are performed on dead people. Would you like to rephrase that?

ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
WITNESS: Oral.

ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.

ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy on him!

ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS: Huh....are you qualified to ask that question?
And the best for last:

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you
began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.

ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive,
nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and
practicing law.

It Works

WOW now I feel clever it works, now I know how to arange pictures.

Pictures

After I uploaded last post I find out that you cant click on a picture and vew it resized in another window. It makes me feel stupid cause I already uploaded few pictures before and they were just fine. Now I find out why it hapends, because I draged and moved them around my post,so a lesson learned dont drag and move anything.Just to learn how to arange pictures the way I want them and everything will be fine. I will add a picture just to try something so this picture is not related to anything.

This is Filip my cousin's son

Dolls for Challenge on Doll Street

As I said in previous post there were few things happening around.
I entered two dolls for Mayor Challenge at Doll Street Dreamers.

First one is life-size doll that I made few weeks ago.She is huge doll, but as it was my first time to create something like that I'm satisfied with how she turns out.

I had problems with dressing her because of her size (all my clothes were small to her) but eventually everything turns out fine.
For the reference here is a picture of my DH with the doll.

Second doll that I entered for this challenge is last minute doll - "Wait for me,- I want to run for a mayor,-just to put on my other shoe"

Somehow silly doll but I wanted her to look like that.I'm thinking of making her into pattern or a class.
Results from this challenge will be on Friday (can't wait),and you can look at other entries here:

Jurate's visit

Hey these past few days lot of things happened.
Well first thing first,
as she said -Jurate have visited me on Sunday and stayed till next day, when she continued her journey to Greece.
We spend these few hours talking about everything not just dolls.
I took her and Mantas to Kalemegdan-old tower in old part of Belgrade, and for a walk through center of Belgrade.
Here we are :Mantas,Jurate,me and Tamara-my younger daughter.

Jurate and Mantas are simple and kind people. Can you imagine our conversation in English which isn't our native language....well it appears that there are few words that are similar in Serbian and Lithuanian language,so we figured out that we could talk in our native languages, and not to struggle with English.
We laugh a lot and had great time.
Before they left,we agreed that they will visit again on their way home in two weeks.
She looked at my dolls and picked one for her (doll made from Patti's book Creative Cloth Doll Faces),promising to send me one of her dolls (AMF she will make one for me),so who's the lucky girl now?

I pointed her out few places in Serbia that she should visit, and hope that she will be satisfied.

Joke

Few days ago a friend send me this joke so I thought I could share it with you.It made me laugh.

THE UGLY FROG

An older lady was somewhat lonely and decided she needed a pet to keep
her company. So, off to the pet shop she went. She searched and
searched. None of the pets seemed to catch her interest, except this
ugly frog As she walked by the jar he was in, she looked and he winked
at her.

He whispered, "I'M SO LONELY, TOO. BUY ME AND TAKE ME HOME
YOU WON'T EVER BE SORRY."

The old lady figured, what the heck! She hadn't found anything else. So,
she bought the frog. She placed him in the car, on the front seat beside
her.
As she was slowly driving down the road, the frog whispered to her "KISS
ME AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY."

So! The old lady figured, WHAT THE HECK, and kissed the frog.
IMMEDIATELY the frog turned into an absolutely gorgeous, sexy, young,
handsome prince.
THE PRINCE THEN RETURNED THE OLD LADY'S KISS.
SUDDENLY THE OLD LADY FELT HERSELF TRANSFORMING FROM HIS KISS.

NOW CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THE OLD LADY TURNED INTO?

COME ON GUESS!

OOOOOOOHHHHHHH COME ON -- DONT BE A POOP!
SHE TURNED INTO THE FIRST HOLIDAY INN SHE COULD FIND!!!

She's old....... NOT DEAD !!!!!
